This season is an exciting one for the Florida Gators. A new coach is starting in the Swamp, which means a new era is beginning. And for Florida fans, that new era can start none too soon.

Florida’s last coach Will Muschamp, now the defense coordinator at Auburn, left the Gators with a bit of a mess to sort through. Florida’s offense and offensive roster was completely depleted. No clear starting quarterback was being developed. And who can forget this:

Yes, that is from two seasons ago, but it does a good job capturing how things often felt under Muschamp. So now the eyes of Gator Nation are turned towards no-socks-no-problem Jim McElwain, wondering just what this new guy can deliver.

McElwain has done an excellent job this offseason being upfront about what his inherited team’s strengths and weaknesses are. He’s continued to build on the strengths and actively moved to shore up the weaknesses. He also hasn’t forgotten to look ahead by putting together a solid recruiting class.

It can be hard on a coach, though, to balance wins now with the long game. Going into the fall, McElwain has many things that still need to be done in order for Florida to be ready for this season.

While the candidates for starting quarterback are by now well-known, we don’t know if it’ll be Treon Harris or Will Grier who will have the honor of that title. We also don’t know the offensive line’s state of readiness. We also don’t know if Florida’s new defensive coordinator, Geoff Collins, will be able to make the defensive scheme he prefers fit to the players that Florida has.

We don’t know a lot of things, but one way we’ll find out is watching Florida play a good game of college football. So let’s review the top five must-see games for the Florida Gators.
