Something that has molded him into the person he is today on the field are the trials he met off of it.

His mother, Deann is a cancer survivor. Upon learning his mother had cancer was one of the most difficult obstacles Watson had to overcome as a person. Facing the hardship at home has helped direct him to being an exceptional leader on the field. The motivation his mother gave him through her fight is what is driving Deshaun to become a better person, player and teammate over the course of his college career at Clemson.

Watson is not someone you ever want to count out in competition. He is set for a comeback and a remarkable season in 2015. Staying healthy will be a huge factor this year and I have no doubt that he will do whatever it takes to find the field and be productive in doing so.

Deshaun Watson

Quarterback, Clemson

  • 2014 stats: 93/137 passing, 1,466 yards, 14 touchdowns and 2 interceptions
  • 63 rushes, 200 yards and 5 touchdowns

This should be no surprise to see Deshaun Watson at the top of this preseason list. Despite the injury suffered to his ACL last season and the recovery that has taken place in the off-season, Watson remains the undisputed leader at quarterback in the ACC.

The stats you read above are over the course of just eight games, and he had to leave two of those games early due to injury. Clemson boasts one of the top and deepest group of skill position players of anyone in the conference and with Watson healthy for the full season, the Tigers could compete for a berth in the Playoff.
