The Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines are engaged in a battle on the recruiting trail for Ahmir Mitchell.
Michigan has managed to fight their way to the top of the list for one of the nation’s leading recruits. On Friday, Ahmir Mitchell (Egg Harbor City, NJ Cedar Creek)
tweeted out who his top two choices are.
It must almost feel like a win for Michigan to be in 50-50 final stretch with a program like top-ranked Ohio State, but missing out on him if he chooses to go to Columbus will burn that much more.

Mitchell is a four-star receiver, standing at 6-foot-3, 203 pounds, who has been recruited by Wisconsin, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Alabama, in addition to Ohio State and Michigan. He is the No. 83 overall recruit, No. 6 receiver and the No. 3 player in the state of New Jersey, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Mitchell is another New Jersey recruit to find interest in going to Michigan. Over the past couple years, Michigan has added defensive back Jabrill Peppers from Paramus Catholic, and Paramus Catholic’s own head coach Chris Partridge has joined the Wolverines as recruiting operations coordinator. They are also believed to be among the final choices for the top ranked player in the nation, Paramus defensive tackle Rashan Gary.
In addition to the Paramus contingent, Michigan has recruited the state of New Jersey effectively and has commitments from  receiver Brad Hawkins and defensive end Ron Johnson.
It would be a great win for Michigan football, and the first against Ohio State of any sort in some time, if they can get a commitment from Mitchell and continue to lock down the highly ranked recruits from the state of New Jersey.
