The NFL Draft is staying in Chicago and will host the event for a second straight year after last year’s draft was a rousing success.

Chicago will remain the home of the NFL Draft after Tuesday’s announcement from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the city will host the 2016 NFL Draft that will be held April 28-30

The news was first reported by the NFL Media’s Steve Wyche.

Last year was the first time since 1964 that Chicago hosted the NFL Draft and it was a smashing success with more than 200,000 fans taking part in the festivities at Grant Park and Roosevelt University and their Auditorium Theatre doing a fine job as the home for the seven round event.

It wasn’t just a home run for the fans who attended the outdoor event, but the media and players on hand all came away with favorable impressions so it should come as no surprise that Chicago gets a second chance to host the marquee event.

Hopefully, Chicago will remain in the rotation and continue to host future drafts, but it won’t become an exclusive host city like New York did for decades when it was held at Radio City Music Hall.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports Denver, Dallas, Miami, Cleveland, LA, Pittsburgh are options to host the draft in future years.

A draft in Los Angeles seems like an inevitability, especially with an NFL franchise or two coming to town in the near future in all likelihood. Plus, as far as the NFL is concerned what’s more Hollywood than the NFL Draft?
