The Maryland Terrapins enter 2015 riding the wave of a successful inaugural season in the Big Ten.
As members of the Big Ten East, Maryland faces one of the toughest divisional schedules in all of college football, but the daunting match-ups don’t end there. This season, the Terps will also face a competitive West Virginia squad in the non-conference and two of the better West division programs, Wisconsin and Iowa, in crossover games.

While it wouldn’t be shocking to see Maryland win its first three to five games of the year, the schedule is unrelenting from Week Six on. Furthermore, 12 new Terps starters, including the quarterback, must be ready to hit the ground running — along with new defensive coordinator Keith Dudzinski — to keep spirits high in College Park, Md.
Considering this, if Maryland is even able to match its win total from last year (seven), this season will be a huge success. While everyone wants to see their team make it to the College Football Playoff, Maryland needs to take baby steps right now. Staying competitive enough to win six to eight games, go to a bowl game and knock off a ranked team or two should be their focus for their first few seasons in the Big Ten East.
If they can do this, recruiting will continue to pick up and winning a conference championship will become a realistic aspiration.
