Big 12 Recruiting: 4-star WR Devin Duvernay down to 8 schools, 4 from Big 12
Where will Sachse, TX. wide receiver Devin Duvernay
Devin Duvernay (Sachse, TX. Sachse) might be the fastest high school wide receiver in the nation. Despite his speed on the field, Duvernay is in no rush to decide where he wants to play football for the next four years.

The 5’11, 192-pound athlete is a four-star wide receiver who is ranked as the No. 34 overall recruit in the nation, No. 3 receiver and the No. 7 recruit in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He caught 62 passes for 990 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 290 yards and three touchdowns in 2014.
Duvernay is a standout on the football field and the track. He won the Texas 6A state title in the 100 meters in 2015. Duvernay turned in a time of 10.27 seconds which put him at No. 3 in the nation in 2015. He also has run the 200 in 21.3 seconds.
College are recruiting Duvernay to play in the slot and at outside receivers. “Some schools have me listed as a slot,” Duvernay said. “Some schools feel like they can move me around with their offensive scheme.”
He has not decided on a top five or made a final list of schools he is considering, but he is focusing on a core group. “I’m looking at Baylor, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma State and Texas,” Duvernay said.
Duvernay said that his relationship with the coaches and the atmosphere at the college will help decide which school he chooses. “Just being comfortable and feeling like I am in the right place,” Duvernay said. “Feel like the coaches will do the right thing for me, and having that trust for them.”
Duvernay expects to decide on a school after the high school season ends. “I am probably going to make a decision soon after the season,” he said. “I was thinking maybe during an all-star game, but we will see.”
Duvernay is not the only outstanding athlete in his family. He has a twin brother, Donovan Duvernay, who plays with him on the Sachse High School football team and his cousin is former five-star recruit and current Texas A&M freshman quarterback Kyler Murray.
Donovan Duvernay is a 5’9″, 180-pound utility player for the Sachse Mustangs. He plays cornerback, wide receiver and returns kicks on special teams. According to 247Sports.com, Donovan Duvernay is a three-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 78 overall athlete in the nation. He will likely play cornerback and on special teams in college.
The Duvernay brothers want to play together in college. “I tell everyone that is the plan,” Devin Duvernay said. “For us to play together. That is how we see ourselves in the future.”
Devin Duvernay said that he wants to be a two-sport athlete in college. “I plan on doing both track and football in college,” Duvernay said.
Although the plan is to wait until after the football season to announce his intentions, you can get a good idea of where he is headed if you look at his criteria for picking a school.
Baylor is the only school to have offered the Duvernay brothers that Devin Duvernay is seriously considering. Baylor also has a very good track program which has a history of producing elite sprinters like Michael Johnson and Jeremy Wariner.
Do not be surprised to see the Duvernay brothers end up in Waco when it is all said and done. Despite his interest in the Baylor Bears, Duvernay has yet to set up an official visit to Waco. He currently only has one official visit scheduled for October 10 to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide play the Arkansas Razorbacks.
