Rutgers Football: Five non-conference games Scarlet Knights fans deserve

Rutgers has a couple of intriguing non-conference games with power conference opponents Washington State and Kansas this season, but these matchups dim in comparison to those that fans would really like to see.
The Scarlet Knights have challenged themselves with some high-profile out of conference games in future seasons, including Washington (2016, 2017) and UCLA (2020, 2021), but some of the best non-conference battles have a little history behind them.

That’s why RU fans are surely looking forward to the Knights’ upcoming series with old conference rivals like Miami (FL), Virginia Tech and Temple. While these match-ups represent a great start, they got us thinking, which non-conference games would top the wish lists of Scarlet Knights fans?
Surely, Rutgers faithful would arrive in droves to see the Knights duke it out with Alabama or USC, but because nostalgia is a huge element in the appeal of college sports, we went with a few games that have a little extra significance to RU history.
