From Bill Snyder to Bob Stoops there are some great head football coaches in the Big 12, but who is the best?
Head coaches are one of the most important pieces to a football team. They are responsible for game planning, recruiting, and orchestrating the entire operation. No team can win on talent alone, so it’s up to its coaching staff to mold that talent and transform it into on-field success.

I compiled this list by taking into account ability, talent, tenure, and success. Each head coach and situation is different, so keep that in mind. Charlie Strong has much more funding and resources than David Beaty at Kansas. However, it is possible to separate and rank all the coaches in the Big 12.
The Big 12 has two potential playoff teams in TCU and Baylor. Both teams just missed the playoff cut last season, and both Gary Patterson and Art Briles are looking to change their fortunes this season.
Baylor’s season has already taken a wrong turn, and we haven’t played a game.
Flagship programs like Texas and Oklahoma are looking to turn their programs around this season after an underwhelming year. Both teams could have a new starting quarterback at the helm.
The 2015 season will be the first for head coach David Beaty as he looks to revive a lifeless Kansas program. Other young coaches like Kliff Kingsbury and Dana Holgorsen will try to improve and build their teams.
The season is just a few weeks away so players and coaches are both chomping at the bit.
Let’s take a look at the Big 12 head coaches and rank them entering the season. After reading through the list, please leave your reactions in the comments section and let me know which coaches are ranked too high and which ones are ranked too low.
