“Vernon is as good a player in all aspects of the game as I’ve been around,” McElwain said. “Let me say this too, the guy loves to practice. He’s not a prima donna, which really to me is what sets him apart. I’ll go ahead and tell you, but we’ve got packages for him on offense too.”
McElwain has remained tight-lipped about the move saying, “I’ll leave it at that” when asked to give some more insight on the news.
This is a very intriguing move and one that should give the Gators flexibility on offense. Hargreaves has tremendous speed and every time he gets his hands on the football, there is a chance for a big play. An explosive playmaker is what Florida’s offense is in desperate need for so it only makes sense to put the most dynamic athlete on that side of the ball at times.
This move has potential to keep opponents off-balance as well particularly if the Gators’ decide to use him out of the backfield. With plenty of options about how to use him, this should give the Florida offense a boost as they are vying compete with the other potent offenses of the SEC.
