Where do the teams in the Big 12 rank after their first week of action?
Football is back.
I’ve been waiting so long to write that sentence. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I watched TCU and Minnesota kick off last Thursday evening. After months of constant speculation and twitter conversations, football was back.

It was an interesting week for the Big 12, too. TCU and Baylor seemed sluggish, but still came away with victories. Heisman hopeful Trevone Boykin looked more like the 2013 version of himself rather than last seasons model.

Baylor quarterback Seth Russell picked up where Bryce Petty left off, he tossed 5 touchdowns against the SMU Mustangs.
Other than the top 2, you could honestly rank the remainder of the Big 12 in any order and it make total sense. There doesn’t seem to be much separation between the last 8 teams, with the exception of maybe Kansas.
Oklahoma State—who I ranked 3rd in the preseason polls—struggled against Central Michigan. Mason Rudolph showed his inexperience and will need to play better if the Cowboys expect to compete at the top of the Big 12.
West Virginia looked sharp on both sides of the ball when they trounced a good Georgia State team 44-0. Skyler Howard struggled here and there, but proved he can run Holgorsen’s offense and manage the game. The Mountaineer’s defense looked absolutely menacing as they posted a shut out. Things seem to be looking up in Morgantown.
Has Oklahoma fixed their offensive woes? Baker Mayfield played extraordinarily in his first start for the Sooners. Watching them play Tennessee next week should be fun.
Kansas lost in a close one against South Dakota State, but they weren’t the worst team in the Big 12 week 1. Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns looked absolutely terrible in their bout against Notre Dame. Texas couldn’t get anything going on either side of the ball, and was embarrassed in South Bend.
After a week of action, we’ve ranked the entire Big 12 from 1 to 10.
