There were some surprising developments in the Big 12 conference during the opening week to the 2015 college football season.
The Big 12 conference opened the college football season in fine fashion with their member schools sporting an 8-2 record. The first week of action was not devoid of suspense as multiple schools sported surprising performances.

The conference has gained a reputation and an offensive-centric conference and its teams did not disappoint during the opening weekend. Teams in the Big 12 conference scored an average of 35.3 points per game in week one.
There were some surprises on the defensive side of the ball both good, and bad. Some freshmen stood out in the first action of their college careers. Big 12 fans should feel confident knowing that as the Malcom Brown’s and Kevin White’s of the world move on to the NFL, there are young players ready to step into their shoes and become stars of the future.
There were two Big 12 teams ranked in the top 10 of the preseason AP poll in Baylor and TCU. Both teams played well enough on the opening weekend of the season to remain in the top 10.
It is early in the year, but the conference appears to have more depth than it did in 2014. More quality teams in the conference should make for an exciting conference race and increased respect nationally.
