Group of Five Power Rankings, Week 1: Temple makes a statement

Boise State was the big story last year out of the Non-Power Five Teams. This year, a number of talented teams are going to strive to reach a New Years Six Bowl or perhaps even crash the Playoffs.

A number of Non Power Five teams won in College Football’s first week, including a few big upsets. One of these teams even made the top College Football news story of the weekend. It’s a great start, but these teams are going to have to continue to play well against their toughest opponents to be the top team from outside of the Power Five.

Boise State, BYU, Temple and Marshall are just a few teams that came up with wins against P5 teams to shock the country. Next week BYU and Boise State will play each other in what looks to be the biggest match-up between Non-P5 teams all season. It’ll be a huge deal.

The winner of the American Athletic Conference is probably the favorite after BYU and Boise State, but a number of teams could win the conference championship. Cincinnati is picked by most people to win it, but the Bearcats will have serious competition from teams like Houston, ECU, Memphis and Temple.

It’s still early in the season, so most of the teams are bound to shift around quite a bit throughout the season, but it’s nice to see which teams to follow going into week two. Continue reading to see the current top teams from outside of the Power Five. Who do you see filling the top Group of Five Bowl Game spot? Who, if any of these teams, will threaten the Power Five Teams for one of the four Playoff spots?
