Rece Davis changes name to ‘Reese’ in PR move with candy brand (Video)

College GameDay host Rece Davis changed his name Monday to Reese in a promotional move with the popular candy brand.

As College Gameday heads to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for Saturday’s primetime contest between the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide and the No. 15 Ole Miss Rebels, the two programs will not be the only ones drawing the attention of the masses.

Gameday host Rece Davis made an announcement Monday that he will change his name from Rece to Reese as part of his partnership with Reese’s and because of his love for the candy itself. You can check out the official announcement in the video below.

Personally, I think this is a win-win for both sides and very create on the part of Mr. Davis. Who wouldn’t want to have the same name as one of America’s most popular candies? Not only that, but now Reese’s got a very unique endorsement. I cannot remember a time where a name was changed to match a candy, and for that reason, I am totally on-board with the idea.

Between this and the game itself, Saturday should be an exciting day in Tuscaloosa. Alabama took care of Wisconsin and Middle Tennessee State in the first two games 35-17 and 37-10 respectively while Ole Miss won their two contests by 76-3 and 76-21 scores. To say that these two teams have high-powered offenses would be an understatement, and it should provide for an interesting backdrop heading into the game.

Davis and Reese’s will be there as two SEC teams go toe-to-toe in what should be an exciting contest to help culminate an eventful Saturday.
