San Jose State Spartans At Oregon State Beavers

Corvallis, Oregon

The Line: Oregon State -8

The showdown at the Big House did not go well for the Beavers. Harbaugh’s Wolverines pummeled the Beavers, rushing for 225 yards while the Oregon State offense imploded for a total of just 138 yards of offense. It was a complete thrashing that makes the idea of Oregon State surpassing four wins seem a little far-fetched.

San Jose State, on the other end, gave up 428 yards on the ground to Air Force, in a 37-16 loss. Neither of these teams is coming in with much confidence, but someone has to win. To find who, tune in to the Pac-12 Network at 4:00PM, pacific time, on Saturday, assuming that your TV goes crazy and refuses to you to tune in to USC-Stanford.

Keys To The Game:

Both teams sucked last week, on both sides of the ball. San Jose State could not stop the option attack of Air Force, and Oregon State could not stop the power running of Michigan. On offense, the Beavers did nothing well, while the Spartans at least ran the ball well. That is most likely the key here, as the passing attack of these schools has been grounded for much of the first two weeks. Whoever controls the line of scrimmage should win this game.

The Prediction:

Oregon State got thrashed, but that was an emotional home debut for Jim Harbaugh, while sending a true freshman quarterback to take snaps against Michigan in the Big House might have asked too much. The Beavers should be better prepared this week with a home crowd and an opponent trying to recover from their own horrific beat down.

The Spartans do not enjoy the same kind of success that the Wolverines had on the ground, while Seth Collins and his fellow quarterbacks get some of their confidence back with some easy throws against a poor Spartan defense. The final score? Oregon State 31, San Jose State 17.
