College GameDay headed to Clemson-Notre Dame in Week 5

College GameDay is headed to Clemson for the Tigers Week 5 showdown with Notre Dame.

After a push by the Indiana Hoosiers to host College GameDay for their game with No. 1 and defending champion Ohio State on Saturday, the 4-0 Hoosiers suffered their first loss of the year when GameDay decided to go elsewhere in Week 5.

Instead of heading to Bloomington, IN. GameDay is headed to Clemson where the undefeated Tigers and quarterback Deshaun Watson host the undefeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish and All-American linebacker Jaylon Smith.

GameDay producer Lee Fitting shared the news on Twitter late on Saturday night.

Sam Ponder is already counting down the days until she and the rest of the GameDay crew is back in town in front of the crazy group of fans who will be there to support their team in what should be an awesome game with College Football Playoff implications on the line.

Other candidates that would have made for a nice venue include Oklahoma for their game vs. undefeated West Virginia or in Athens where Georgia will host Alabama.

However, after Alabama already was part of two GameDay’s earlier this year and they lost to Ole Miss, the game doesn’t have the same luster as previously thought. It’s still a huge game to be sure, but there would have been significant backlash for Alabama to be a part of the show for the third time in five weeks.
