Going into this game, the Aggies are 1-0 in SEC conference play. The Bulldogs however, are 1-1 in conference play. Mississippi State has collected a victory over the Auburn Tigers, while taking a loss to fellow SEC West inhabitant, LSU.
Last week, Texas A&M had a gut-clenching overtime victory over Arkansas. With the final seconds of the game passing, the Texas A&M Aggies had a potential game winning field goal sail wide-right. This led to Arkansas and Texas A&M doing battle in overtime. On the second play of overtime, Texas A&M sophomore quarterback, Kyle Allen threw a 31 yard touchdown strike to true freshman wide receiver, Christian Kirk.
The Arkansas Razorbacks failed to score on their proceeding drive and the Aggies took home their first SEC conference win this season. As a result, this match against Mississippi State is a critical evaluation for Texas A&M. If the Aggies want to show the world that they are playoff contenders, and not pretenders then they will need to have an impressive win against Mississippi State.
