College Football Top 25: Predicting every undefeated team’s first loss

The College Football Top 25 is starting to shape up and will soon give way to the College Football Playoff committee rankings. But between now and the end of the season, some or all of these undefeated teams will end up losing at least one game.

Right now the rankings are window dressing…no more than a way of saying you beat or were beaten by a ranked team. But teams with zeros in the loss column will get the attention of the playoff committee regardless of where they are ranked.

Heading into the halfway point the of the season, there are currently 14 teams ranked in the AP Top 25 who have yet to lose a game. Some of them have already trudged through the most difficult part of their schedule, while other have some serious tests in the coming weeks.

Someone is going down.

It can happen to any team, any time, any stadium. It happened to Oklahoma, as they were upset by Texas in this year’s Red River Showdown in Week 6.

It could be an upset, it could be a rivalry game, it could be the first tough opponent a team faces.

Or even worse, it could be an FCS team (watch out, late-season cupcake scheduling SEC).

Starting with the No. 24 Houston Cougars and working our way up to the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes, here are some predictions of when (and if) each of these unbeatens will lose their first game of the 2015 season.
