Michigan, Ohio State coaches subtweet each other over recruit

Michigan and Ohio State engaged in a Twitter war over top running back Kareem walker beginning on Tuesday.

Sometimes rivalries go beyond the football field. That was the case beginning on Tuesday when Michigan recruiting coordinator Chris Partridge and Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford traded shots back and forth via Twitter about 2016 running back Kareem Walker, a coveted recruit both programs are fighting for.

Partridge drew first blood, tweeting this on Tuesday night.

Alford then responded earlier Wednesday morning with a quote that, to say the least, fit the situation.

It is worth noting that Walker who is committed to the Buckeyes took an unofficial visit to Michigan last weekend and as noted by Dave Biddle of 247Sports, many people believe he will flip from the Scarlet and Grey to the Maize and Blue.

Walker is the No. 1 running back in the class of 2016 per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

This is nothing more than two rivals trading subtle yet effective barbs. Especially with a prized recruit on the line, I can certainly understand where both sides are coming from. Is this the best look for both sides? No. Sometimes it is better to say nothing at all. However, with the success of both programs occurring at the same time and as the highly-touted recruits flock to both programs, I understand the tension.

In other words, it is just another day in the college football world and arguments and disputes like this one are part of the reason why fans love the game so much.
