The defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes are hosting College GameDay next weekend for their Big Ten East showdown with the Michigan State Spartans.
In recent years this game has decided the winner of the East division and who gets to play the sacrificial lamb from the West division. This game won’t clinch the division with the Michigan Wolverines still in the picture after they hung on for a double overtime win against the Indiana Hoosiers, but Ohio State can move one step closer toward securing a College Football Playoff spot with a win over the Spartans.

Michigan State may already be eliminated from the playoff conversation after losing to Nebraska last weekend, but they can still win the division if they win out. Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook had to leave Saturday’s win against the Maryland Terrapins with an injured throwing shoulder but the early prognosis is good and he expects to play in this game.

Meanwhile, the Buckeyes got their quarterback, J.T. Barrett, back from a one-game suspension and he’ll look to get in a rhythm early and get this offense rolling through the air and on the ground.
The ground game hasn’t suffered with Ezekiel Elliott coming off his second best performance of the year with 181 yards in the win against Illinois, his 15th straight game topping the century mark.
Elliott can make a Heisman statement with a similar performance against the once-dominant Michigan State defense that’s not so stout this year without defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi.

In any event, College GameDay is sure to be the site of a fun weekend in Columbus.
