Demarcus Robinson has been reinstated by the Florida Gators and could suit up for the crucial SEC Championship Game.

The Florida Gators will welcome back a big part of their offense just in time for the SEC Championship Game as it was announced on Tuesday that wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been reinstated after serving a one-game suspension.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain told reporters Tuesday that the reinstatement was a “family decision” made by the Gator seniors.

“Yeah, the seniors got together and have given him an opportunity,” McElwain said, via USA Today. “He talked to the team. You know, it was a choice, like I said, for him not to be with his family and us in the last ball game. Sometimes the greatest lessons in life are when things are taken away from you and you’re no longer enabled. As I’ve said before, he has come a long way. But he still has a long way to go to understand it’s not OK to make choices that hurt your team.”

This was his third suspension in four years. Robinson has been a big part of the Gator offensive attack, leading the team with 47 receptions for 505 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, he has tallied 105 receptions for 1,338 yards and nine touchdowns.

This is a huge development for the Gators as they take on No. 2 Alabama. We saw how much they struggled with him not on the field, so this should be a welcome return. McElwain did not say whether Robinson will definitely play, but should he, this will help out the offense in a big way.

He is not the be-all-end-all on offense, but he is certainly a big part of what they do. His explosiveness will certainly be tested against a very good Alabama defense and if the Gators have any chance of beating the Tide, they’ll need Robinson to be a difference-maker.
