LSU Football Recruiting: 5-star DT Rashard Lawrence commits to Tigers
The LSU Tigers added to their No. 1 ranked recruiting class on Friday morning with the addition of five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence.
Good thing LSU didn’t foolishly fire Les Miles at the end of the season otherwise the Tigers wouldn’t be a week and a half away from perhaps the best recruiting class in program history.

LSU reclaimed the nation’s No. 1 class on Thursday with the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Willie Allen and added to their lead over Ohio State on Friday with the commitment of five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence (Monroe, LA. Neville) who picked the Tigers over the Buckeyes.
The 6-3, 305-pound defensive tackle was expected to pick the in-state program all along and his decision may have clinched the No. 1 class with a few days remaining until the Feb. 3 signing day that promises to be a circus. This would also mark the first time in four years that Alabama didn’t finish with the nation’s top class.
Lawrence ranks as the nation’s No. 23 overall recruit, No. 5 defensive tackle and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Louisiana, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the highest-ranked recruit committed to Miles and LSU, but could drop to No. 2 if LSU is successful in getting the nation’s 21 overall recruit, No. 2 cornerback and the top recruit in Louisiana, Kristian Fulton to commit to LSU between now and signing day.
