NFL Draft 2016 Rankings: Top 5 quarterbacks
The NFL Combine gets underway on Feb. 23 with 300 of the top NFL Draft prospects doing their best to improve their stock for April’s draft. Here are the top five quarterbacks before the combine begins.
The quarterback position is the most important position to fill in sports. Without a great quarterback, history tells you have next to no chance of competing for a Super Bowl. With a great quarterback, you’re able to win games, division titles and compete for Super Bowls.

The talent pool has begun to dry up in recent years due to a myriad of reasons but the demand for high-end talent from quarterback prospects will always be in high demand and this year is no different.
This year’s draft doesn’t feature prospects like Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota who were the top two picks last year or players you can build a franchise with like Cam Newton or Andrew Luck, but there are players who can help a team win.
Heading into the NFL Combine, here are how I rank the top five quarterback prospects in the 2016 NFL Draft.
This ranking will fluctuate after the quarterbacks go through their on-field workouts on Feb. 27, which you can watch on the NFL Network. On paper, these are the five best quarterbacks, but I don’t think any of the five will step right in as rookies and play well.

Goff and Wentz should go in the first round and could be top-10 picks, but I think that’s based more on teams like the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers desperate for a new quarterback than being among the 10 best overall draft prospects.
The biggest wild card in the draft is Wentz who dominated the FCS level and has four national championship rings and has been compared to Joe Flacco has the most to gain at the combine.
