Peyton Manning’s former teammate at Tennessee corroborated his story from his highly publicized “mooning” incident with a school trainer.

The latest in the Peyton Manning Moongate took another turn on Wednesday with Manning’s former Tennessee teammate Greg Johnson giving MMQB’s Robert Klemko an eyewitness account into what exactly happened inside the training room on the day of the incident.

Manning was accused by Tennessee trainer Jamie Naughright of placing his rectum and genitals on her while she investigated a potential foot injury. Her original story gave no mention of physical contact but she later changed her story to include the mention of physical contact and that Peyton and his father Archie Manning tried to discredit her and ruin her career.

Now, there is an eyewitness account from Johnson who was a senior linebacker in 1996 and backs up Manning’s story that he was mooning Malcolm Saxon in the trainer’s room, this also corroborates with Naughright’s affidavit in 1996.

“Saxon walks in, and Peyton was the kind of guy who had to be friendly with everyone; he wanted to include everyone, from his teammates to the cross country guy,” Johnson told Klemko. “He says hey to Saxon and pulls down the back of his shorts, and I saw one butt cheek, and then he pulled his pants up. And Jamie said something like, ‘Aw, you’re an ass.’ Then I left. Thought nothing of it.”

When Johnson was asked if Manning placed his genitals and rectum on Naughright he said, “It just didn’t happen.”

So there you have it from someone who actually saw what happened and he said it was a half-mooning from Manning, which is a far cry from the “sexual assault” that was depicted in Shaun King’s story in the New York Daily News that came under fire when it was published after Manning helped the Denver Broncos win Super Bowl 50.
