Former Florida starting quarterback Will Grier visited West Virginia earlier this week as he seeks a new home after transferring from the Gators and the Mountaineers would provide a nice fit for his skill-set.

Will Grier needs to find a new home after the former starting quarterback for the Florida Gators and former No. 2 quarterback recruit, elected to transfer after failing an NCAA drug test resulted in a year-long suspension.

Grier went 5-0 in five starts for the Gators before the suspension ended his season and sent the Gators limping down the second half of the season with Treon Harris inserted at quarterback.

Grier was leading the SEC in completion percentage and injected life into the Florida passing offense that struggled mightily in previous years and showed potential to be one of the top passers in the SEC.

But perhaps Grier could now be one of the top passers in the Big 12 after visiting the West Virginia Mountaineers on Wednesday, according to Mike Casazza of the Charleston Gazette-Mail.

Should Grier decide Morgantown is where he wants to resume his promising college football career, it would be a nice fit considering the Mountaineers have finished in the top 10 in passing offense in three of the last five years under head coach Dana Holgorson.

Skyler Howard is the incumbent starter at West Virginia and has one more year of eligibility so Grier could have a clear path to the starting job after sitting out his mandatory one year per NCAA transfer rules. It’s also unclear if he would be able to serve his suspension while sitting his transfer year.

According to Graham Hall of the Gainesville Sun, Grier has also met with Ohio State and Miami.
