South Carolina Football: 4-star QB Jake Bentley commits to Gamecocks
Will Muschamp picked up a huge commitment for the South Carolina Gamecocks recruiting class in four-star quarterback Jake Bentley.
Will Muschamp famously struggled to get quality play from the quarterback position during his four-year stint with the Florida Gators, and he’s trying to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself with him at South Carolina.

The Gamecocks picked up the commitment from four-star quarterback Jake Bentley (Opelika, AL. Opelika) on Thursday to give Muschamp a quality prospect to build around. The 6-3.5, 219-pound pro-style quarterback is the No. 104 ranked player overall, No. 6 pro-style quarterback and the No. 4 recruit in the state of Alabama, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

"Go Cocks"
Going into the state and prying a top recruit away from Nick Saban and Alabama and Gus Malzahn and Auburn is a significant recruiting win for Muschamp and offensive coordinator and Bentley’s primary recruiter, Kurt Roper.
But they had the advantage all along considering Bentley’s father, Bobby Bentley is the Gamecocks running backs coach.
Last year as a junior, Bentley threw for 2,834 yards and 28 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
The size is clear when you look at Bentley and he has the rocket arm that players of his size have, but he also had the accuracy and ability to drop touch throws to receivers in stride.

Further, being the son of a coach he also has all the intangibles that coaches want out of the position.
With the commitment from Bentley, South Carolina moved up from No. 21 in the 247Sports Team Rankings to No. 13 and with that comes the hope Bentley will be able to lure top receivers and talent with him to Columbia.
