Ole Miss confirms Laremy Tunsil texts, checking for alterations
Laremy Tunsil is in the clear as he begins his NFL career but the Ole Miss Rebels are left to pick up the mess he left behind.
Former Ole Miss Rebels offensive tackle was in hot water before, during and after the NFL Draft after video surfaced of him wearing a gas mask while smoking a bong. As if that wasn’t bad enough, messages from Tunsil’s Instagram account revealed what appeared to be Tunsil exchanging messages with an Ole Miss coach and asking for money.
Tunsil asked Ole Miss assistant AD John Miller for rent money and to pay his mother’s utility bill, which occurred in February and April of last year.
After the Miami Dolphins selected Tunsil with the No. 13 pick, he was asked about the messages and if he took money while at Ole Miss and admitted that he did indeed take money.

That would be a violation of NCAA rules.
There is the question of whether those messages were altered in any way because Tunsil said his Instagram and his Twitter accounts were hacked when those messages were posted.
It definitely appeared like someone was trying to extort Tunsil or simply do anything they could to make sure he lost as much money as possible during the Draft proceedings.
Could the messages have been altered? Not that it really matters with Tunsil admitting he took cash, but according to ESPN, Ole Miss confirms the exchange took place but are checking to see if the messages were doctored.
The NCAA is investigating Ole Miss which is expected to respond to their Notice of Allegations later this month.

In the meantime, we have Tunsil admitting he was paid by an Ole Miss coach and Ole Miss confirming the messages saying Tunsil took money are authentic.
This should be an open and shut case, right?
