Two members of the Alabama football team were arrested overnight on drugs and weapons charges.

Starting left tackle Cam Robinson and reserve safety Laurence “Hootie” Jones were arrested for possession of marijuana and felony weapons charges.

The two Louisiana natives were arrested in Monroe, Louisiana after police spotted Robinson’s car in the parking lot at a park at 2:23 a.m.

An officer approached the car and smelled marijuana. A search discovered a bag of marijuana on the floorboard, a handgun on the lap of the passenger and a stolen handgun found under the seat of Robinson.

Robinson had his bond set at $750 and charged with two misdemeanors, possession of marijuana and illegally carrying a weapon, but was also charged with felony possession of stolen firearms. Jones was charged with two misdemeanors.

Robinson was a former five-star recruit out of West Monroe and been the starting left tackle for the Crimson Tide since his freshman year. The All-SEC offensive tackle is a potential top-five pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Jones was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and played a reserve role last year with most of his playing time coming on special teams.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban said he was aware of the situation with Robinson and Jones and was in the process of gathering facts to determine what action needs to be taken, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

A suspension is likely forthcoming for both players, although it’s unclear how long they will be out of action or if Saban will determine another form of internal discipline.
