Bret Bielema wants Arkansas to be like Curry, not like LeBron
Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Bret Bielema used a reference to Steph Curry and LeBron James to describe what he wants out of his team.
Bret Bielema is one of the best personalities in college football. Whether you like him or agree with everything he has to say is another thing, but he’s never been shy about expressing himself.
While speaking at the SEC’s spring meetings, the head coach of the Razorbacks used an analogy that got a little confusing when he tried to describe the concept of good solid team play.
“I used the NBA [Finals] series a year ago, an off-topic deal, but [it’s] just the way I think,” Bielema said at the SEC’s spring meetings. “I told our guys here at Arkansas we need to be a little bit Curry and a little less LeBron. We’ve got to be a little bit more about the team and working together and the chemistry.”
It isn’t often you get a cross-sport analogy but Bielema said his team knows and loves basketball so he referenced the two biggest names in the sport who are battling in the NBA Finals.
“I think [Curry] was the seventh draft pick or the eighth draft pick? I listed all the guys that got drafted ahead of him that weren’t even in the league anymore,” Bielema said. “And I think about it a lot.
“I knew our players were engaged with basketball. I don’t know anything about basketball, so I probably shouldn’t be commenting on it. But I knew the story of Curry. We use outside stuff like that that helps us build our program in the way that you want.”

So Curry is a good team guy and LeBron isn’t according to Bielema who hopes the Hogs will play like Curry and not like LeBron. Got it? Good.
Now if you can explain it to me, that would be great.
