Baylor Bears quarterback Seth Russell is fully healed from the neck injury that ended his season last year and is fully released to get back in action.

There was no better quarterback in college football for the first two months of the season last year than Baylor Bears first-year starter Seth Russell.

Not Deshaun Watson. Not Jared Goff. No one. Baylor’s quarterback looked like the next in a long line of productive quarterbacks to play in that system when he led the nation with 29 touchdowns and an189.72 quarterback rating through seven games.

But then Russell suffered a broken bone in his neck and was lost for the rest of the year. There were some nervous moments for Russell as he waited to heal and hear from doctors who would let him know when he could resume if football playing career.

That moment came on Thursday when Russell got fully released as his neck has healed properly.

Baylor football and the university has come under fire in recent weeks and months for an ongoing sexual assault scandal that cost his former coach Art Briles his job as well as AD Ian McCaw and president Ken Starr.

There are plenty of questions surrounding Baylor football moving forward, but they can cross one off that list of on-field questions with a healthy Russell returning to action.
