5. Toneil Carter

  • Houston,  TX
  • 247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 109
  • Position Ranking: No. 5

Carter is a slippery back who is very difficult to bring down. It is his physicality, not his speed that is his greatest asset. He can take a hit from a defender and bruise his way past contact in order to keep running. He follows his blockers very well and will do whatever it takes to reach the end zone.

In 2015, he rushed the ball 142 times for 1206 yards and 17 touchdowns. Believe it or not, those numbers were down from the previous year when he rushed the ball 189 times for 1,382 yards and 19 touchdowns. Over the past two seasons, in particular, his stock has risen considerably and he should be fun to watch come August, his senior year.

A four-star recruit, Carter has 18 offers on the table.  The SEC has shown particular interest as Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M have all offered the back, Right now, Georgia is the favorite. They have a tremendous history when it comes to running backs especially recently (Todd Gurley, anyone?) and Carter fits the mold for the program.

Prediction: Georgia

Next: Anthony McFarland Jr.
