Nick Saban rips into Paul Finebaum at SEC Media Days (Video)
Nick Saban wasn’t very happy at SEC Media Days and Paul Finebaum helped push him over the edge as the Alabama head coach unleashed some anger on the SEC Network.
Day 3 of SEC Media Days may have provided the biggest takeaway of the four-day event when Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban met with the media.
After hitting a few home runs with the softball questions that were lobbed his way, Saban was finally asked about the playing status of Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones who were arrested in May. The two later had their charges dropped in June and Saban made comments today that if they do everything asked of them as part of their internal discipline, they will have a chance to play in Week 1 against the USC Trojans.
Saban knew he would be open to criticism after making this call and after the general session with the media, Saban sat down with the SEC Network crew where Paul Finebaum reminded him of the criticism he’s subjecting himself to.
Saban responded with a matter of fact, “I don’t really care to answer to the critics because I’m gonna do what’s right for the players.”
And things just escalated from there in a tense two minutes on set where Finebaum seemed to goad Saban who unleashed some pent up anger.

The real fireworks apparently took place off-camera when Finebaum said Saban was tame compared to what he said when they went to commercial. Finebaum said if there was video of it, it would go viral and rack up 14 million views.

Finebaum did clarify Saban wasn’t directing his anger at anyone on the set but rather a broken system and the way his players have been portrayed and treated in the media.
