Another Alabama football player has been arrested this offseason with guard Alphonse Taylor charged with a DUI on Sunday.

In what has been a trying offseason for Alabama football, another player has found himself in trouble with the law. Redshirt junior offensive guard Alphonse Taylor was arrested Sunday and charged with driving under the influence, per Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Taylor was named to the All-SEC Preseason second-team on Friday.

Starting all 15 games last season, Taylor was part of an offensive line that amassed 199.9 rushing yards per contest and paved the way for Heisman winner, Derrick Henry.

This season, he will have the task of blocking for sophomore running backs Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris among others, and given the fact that Alabama relies so heavily on the running game as part of their offensive system, this task will be important if the Tide want to continue their success.

Wednesday, it was announced by head coach Nick Saban that left tackle Cam Robinson and defensive back Hootie Jones were unlikely to be suspended from the team as a result of dropped marijuana and firearms charges, and that if they completed an internal discipline program they would have a chance to play in Week 1 when Alabama takes on USC.

It will be interesting to see what kind of punishment Saban gives Taylor and if it is similar to that of Robinson’s and Jones’. If anything, the Alabama head man can attest to the fact that it has indeed been a long offseason.
