North Carolina Recruiting: 4-star CB Tre Shaw commits to Tar Heels
The North Carolina recruiting class added the commitment from four-star cornerback Tre Shaw.
The North Carolina Tar Heels picked up a major commitment Monday as 2017 four-star cornerback Tre Shaw (Ellenwood, GA. Cedar Grove) committed to the program. He made the announcement via Twitter earlier in the day.
Shaw is the No. 289 overall player in the 2017 class, and the No. 30 cornerback and player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Amassing 34 offers in total, Shaw was a highly valued prospect. Just from within the ACC, Clemson, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech all extended offers his way. He was recruited to the Tar Heels by Secondary Coach Charlton Warren.

On the North Carolina front, Shaw attended a school camp on June 12, 2015, and was offered by the program that same day.
Things would quiet down for a bit until earlier this year when he took an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill on February 17. He then released a top 10 list on March 30, and the Tar Heels made the cut. He attended a school camp on June 18 and that would be the final bit of activity until Monday when he announced his commitment to the program.
With this pledge, North Carolina now has five four-star commitments and 15 commitments in total for their 2017 class. That is good enough for No. 13 nationally and No. 4 in the ACC per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Shaw is a physical cornerback who is not afraid to come up and make a tackle as well as jam receivers at the line of scrimmage. He will be a tremendous addition to the North Carolina secondary.
