ACC Network to launch on ESPN in 2019
The announcement of the ACC Network follows a recent push towards conference-specific programming.
Good news is in the cards for ACC fans. A channel is coming your way. On Thursday, it was announced by Commissioner John Swofford that the ACC Network will launch in August 2019 as part of a media deal with ESPN, which now runs through the 2035-36 season.
In addition, a digital channel will be created and will be online next month per Swofford.
“It was also very important to both ESPN and our league that we try to create a model in which each of the ACC’s 27 sponsored sports would be televised in some manner,” Swofford said. “I don’t know if we’ll get them all as some are extremely difficult to produce for television, but by 2019, we’re going to be very close.”
Schools are already beginning to do some work in order to make sure the success of the network. North Carolina State has spent an estimated $6 million to build a broadcast studio at the football stadium as well as a control room at Reynolds Coliseum, also on the campus, which will be used in content production once it is completed.
How do you get the digital channel? Available via ESPN’s online applications, users will have to provide the usernames and passwords that they use to log into their online accounts for their cable or satellite television providers.
