College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 3
By Zach Bigalke
Nebraska just notched its 350th straight shutout, a streak dating back to the 1962 season under Bob Devaney, by welcoming the Oregon Ducks to Lincoln. By the end most of the 90,000-plus in attendance had plenty to celebrate after the Cornhuskers upset the Ducks 35-32. Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns, adding another 95 yards and a rushing touchdown for good measure. The Blackshirt defense allowed over 300 rushing yards despite Oregon’s loss of Royce Freeman early in the game, but Nebraska held Duck QB Dakota Prukop to just 146 passing yards in the win.
Nebraska should have no problem winning its next four games on the schedule to build up an early lead in the Big Ten standings. The next real test for the Cornhuskers will come on October 29, when Mike Riley will take his team east to face Wisconsin in a game that might decide which team plays in the conference championship a little over a month later.
