Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Dexter Williams reversed field and took off for a 59-yard touchdown on Saturday against the Syracuse Orange.

Even though the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continue to struggle on defense, their offense can still look straight-up unstoppable at times. That’s especially true when the running game gets going to open up the passing game for DeShone Kizer.

Kizer and the Fighting Irish offense were feeling it on Saturday against the Syracuse Orange. Notre Dame scored 33 points in the first half and didn’t show any signs of slowing down early in the third quarter.

In the third quarter, Kizer handed the ball off to sophomore running back Dexter Williams. The play didn’t look like it was going to go anywhere, but Williams quickly stopped, reversed field and took off. No one was on the other side of the field to contain Williams, so he took off for a thrilling 59-yard touchdown to put Notre Dame up 47-27.

You can check out the play from Williams in the video below.

This season has been a massive disappointment for Notre Dame, going 1-3 through their first four games with losses to Texas, Michigan State and even Duke. The defense has been especially bad, allowing at least 36 points in three of their four games.

Defensive coordinator Brian VanGroder was fired this week due to the team’s defensive struggles. However, the defense didn’t look much better on Saturday against Syracuse. Fortunately the offense was clicking and helping them keep a pretty comfortable lead.
