Georgia-native Chauncey Rivers was one of the new faces to join EMCC and the ‘Last Chance U’ cast for Season 2.

The first season of ‘Last Chance U’ took a look at the East Mississippi Community College football team. Throughout the past 10 years, or so, head coach Buddy Stephens and the Lions have ruled the JUCO circuit. Stephens won multiple titles and has helped many players, like Chad Kelly, Bo Wallace and John Franklin III.

In this season, some of noticeable D1 talent was De’Andre Johnson, Tim Bonner, Dakota Allen and Chauncey Rivers.

Meet Rivers.

Before EMCC

Before college, Chauncey Rivers was a four-star defensive end from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga. He had multiple offers out of high school from programs like Clemson, South Carolina, Auburn and a bunch of other Power Five destinations. He ended up choosing to play for his home state Bulldogs.

At Georgia, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt saw a bright future for Rivers at outside linebacker instead of defensive end. Georgia runs a 3-4 defensive scheme and needs bigger defensive ends. Rivers was only 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, which is right around the same size of as former Georgia great Jarvis Jones.

In his freshman year, Rivers made his impact mostly on special teams. He had four tackles and also recorded one tackle for loss with limited snaps he saw on defense. His Georgia career would come to an end after Chauncey picked up his third drug arrest for possession of marijuana.

Rivers would end his career with the Bulldogs be suspended for more games than he every played between the hedges.
