Florida Atlantic football is on track to be better than it has ever been thanks to new head coach Lane Kiffin and his impact transfers.

When Lane Kiffin left Alabama to take the job as Florida Atlantic’s head football coach, some people were busy raising their eyebrows and shaking their heads that they forgot the Crimson Tide still had a playoff run to finish.

After spending time under Nick Saban as his offensive coordinator, Kiffin jumped on the first chance he got to become a head coach. While coaching in Conference-USA isn’t quite like the SEC, he’s still bringing his “get top talent on the roster” mindset to the Owls.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that two potential impact transfers will be eligible for the 2017 season and could change the team’s outlook dramatically. According to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman, Pittsburgh transfer Jeremiah Taleni and former five-star Florida State commit Kain Daub are expected to be eligible for the upcoming season.

Taleni was kicked off the Panthers team this past April for disciplinary reasons by Pat Narduzzi and acts as a graduate transfer. Daub spent a year at a JUCO in New York before picking FAU as his next destination. The former was expected to be a top defensive lineman for Pitt while the latter was a top-100 player with over a dozen Power Five offers out of high school.

It’s hard to believe that Kiffin is going to stay with the Owls for an extended period of time, which might be why he’s looking to land instant-impact transfers rather than building a solid recruiting base — recruiting at FAU cannot be easy.

As of right now, Kiffin has added Taleni and Daub on top of potential starting quarterback, and ‘Last Chance U’ star, DeAndre Johnson and fellow EMCC teammate Tim Bonner. Could the Owls finish with more than four wins for the first time since 2009?
