1. People will start talking about Keller Chryst

Stanford could have themselves a gem at starting quarterback with Keller Chryst. He will not start the year as the focal point of the offense with Bryce Love in the backfield. Senior tight end Dalton Schultz provides Chryst with a solid primary option to throw the ball to.

Throwing 10 touchdowns and only two interceptions last year showed Chryst’s efficiency. Chryst combined for three touchdowns against Rice last year. A big start to the season could be in store for Chryst since he gets to face a team like Rice in Week 1.

This is also a chance for Chryst and Stanford to build up momentum for the Week 3 matchup against the USC Trojans. Since Stanford has a bye in Week 2, they need to get things together quickly.

Head coach David Shaw has the chance to win a PAC-12 Championship since. Stanford is the third highest-ranked team in the conference in the preseason AP Poll. USC will be a test and they’ll need a tune up game like this for Chryst to shake off the rust and make some noise.
