No. 1 – Arkansas was uninspired, but it didn’t matter

The Razorbacks were nearly eight touchdown favorites against Florida A&M on Thursday. They won by 42 pointsIt’s not about the point spread, but it is about the level of talent between these two teams. The chasms between the SEC and the MEAC is supposed to be gigantic. For most of the game Arkansas made the difference between them seem somewhat manageable.

The Razorbacks play three “cup cake” games in 2017. After FAMU they’ll host New Mexico State and Coastal Carolina later in the year. These games are supposed to be tune-up games where you play a lot of guys and get ready for a tough conference slate.

Arkansas accomplish part of that goal by getting so many guys involved on the ground, but there never really seemed to be any “ah-ha” moments where something clicked. The defensive line took advantage of poor blocking and better athleticism to pick up a couple of sacks, but other than taking advantage of opportunities handed to them, this win over Florida A&M left much to be desired.

Next up is TCU. The Razorbacks were victorious against the Horned Frogs last season, but it took two overtimes to get the win. The Hogs are going to need to find a way to getting rolling quick. If they don’t TCU quarterback Kenny Hill could to them in an early hole.
