Judging off hype and expectations only, the Texas Longhorns should destroy the Maryland Terrapins. It’s the first game during the Tom Herman-era. The Charlie Strong-era did not go well for Texas. However, Herman did a great job with the Houston football program. He could do the same with the Horns.

Maryland is one of the weaker teams in the Big Ten. This is not the biggest game on the non-conference slate for Texas.

USC hosts Texas in Week 3 where sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele gets the spotlight against one of the best in college football in Sam Darnold.

The Longhorn receiving corps could have a big day. One of the bigger struggles while Strong was at the helm was finding consistent receivers. A lot of the times that Buechele, Tyrone Swoopes, Jerrod Heard, etc., made a good throw, Texas had a receiver that would not catch it. They’re set up with guys like Collin Johnson, Devin Duvernay, and Armanti Foreman that’re all talented with big potential in 2017.
