UCLA. Josh Rosen. 3. player. Scouting Report. QB. 30. Pick Analysis

The hot debate of this year’s draft won’t be which defensive player will go first, but rather who teams that need a quarterback would rather have, Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen? The answer isn’t quite obvious yet as both have had up-and-down starts to begin the 2017 season.

Rosen, in particular, had both ups and downs in the same start against Texas A&M in Week 1. He passed for 491 yards and four touchdowns in the 35-point second-half comeback effort and stayed calm throughout. Not many young quarterbacks can refrain from the panic button while down 44-10, but he did.

As a former five-star recruit, Rosen chose to stay close to home and attend UCLA under Jim Mora’s watch. He started as a true freshman, passing for 3,760 yards and 32 touchdowns, but he completed just 60 percent of his throws.

Now a junior, coming off a season-ending injury in 2016, his completion rate is up to 68 percent through two games and he’s thrown for 820 yards, nine touchdowns and no picks. This kid has improved his draft stock drastically and he may be East Coast-bound.
