Penn State football looks to remain undefeated in Week 3 as they face the Georgia State Panthers. Here’s all you need to know for the game.

The fifth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions are 2-0 entering their contest with the Georgia State Panthers, who are 0-1. Georgia State was off last week but the Nittany Lions faced the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Two early pass touchdowns to tight end Mike Gesicki gave Penn State football a 14-0 lead early in the first quarter. They didn’t get much resistance from Pittsburgh, cruising to victory from there.

Running back Saquon Barkley ran for a rushing touchdown and caught a receiving touchdown in the game, showing off his versatility as a receiving option as well. Barkley finished the game with 88 rushing yards and 45 receiving yards.

The Penn State defense racked up five sacks and two interceptions in last week’s victory. They have allowed 14 total points as a unit two weeks into the season. Georgia State lost to an FCS team in their season opener on August 31. The Tennessee State Tigers beat them 17-10 to open their season with a bang.

Keys to victory

Penn State football has seen tight end Mike Gesicki lead the way with four receiving touchdowns this year. Saquon Barkley also has four total touchdowns this season. Quarterback Trace McSorley continues to find ways to get his playmakers the ball while winning in convincing fashion two games in. This is a game that could see Barkley take over with his legs.

Georgia State allowed 238 rushing yards in their opener to Tennessee State. Barkley in the open field over and over again is all they should need to cruise here.

Prediction

The Georgia State Panthers had four turnovers in their season opener. The way the Penn State football has been playing defense, this could be one of those games that gets out of hand early if the Panthers aren’t focused.

McSorley has completed 62.3 percent of his passes already but he’s thrown two interceptions, too. He should have a near-perfect game here to improve his numbers a bit here before Big Ten play begins.

Final Score: Penn State 49, Georgia State 6
