Stanford football takes another road trip. Could they be on upset alert? Here’s all you need to know about their game against the San Diego State Aztecs.

The 19th-ranked Stanford Cardinal fell last week to open up Pac-12 play at 0-1, but they’re still in good shape for now. They travel to San Diego State to face an Aztec team with a strong running game.

Stanford football has a strong running game of their own behind the legs of running back Bryce Love. Love is averaging 170.0 rushing yards per game through two contests. He ran for 160 rushing yards and a touchdown in last week’s 42-24 loss to the USC Trojans. The road schedule gets a bit tougher with the Aztecs on Saturday.

The Aztecs are without record-setting rusher Donnell Pumphrey, but they look to be in good hands with running back Rashaad Penny. Penny has 413 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns this season, averaging 10.3 yards per carry.

The Cardinal defense will need to step up the run defense after 307 rushing yards last week against USC.

Here’s how you can watch Saturday’s game between Stanford and San Diego State:

Date: Saturday, Sept. 16
Time: 10:30pm ET
Location: San Diego, CA
Venue: Qualcomm Stadium
TV: CBS Sports Network
Live Stream: CBSSN

Keys to victory

The Stanford football team has a superstar in running back Bryce Love but they need to develop other stars around him. They have capable receivers as quarterback Keller Chryst completed two receiving touchdowns in their loss last week.

Balance is the name of the game. Chryst will need to find his targets early to open up the field for Love to get loose or the Cardinal football team could find their back against the wall once again.

The Aztecs beat Arizona State 30-20 last week but they don’t have a guy named Bryce Love on their team.

Prediction

The Stanford Cardinal aren’t favored in the game, but that’s okay. They have the talent to win the game, their offensive line just needs to give time Chryst to get the ball to the open man. Love should have over 100 rushing yards once again and at least two touchdowns in a close victory.

Final Score: Stanford 33, San Diego State 23
