2. Florida’s defense is still lethal

While Florida’s defense was really worn down by the end of the game with two straight touchdown drives, they still did just enough to hold on for what would be a miracle win. Three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown gave the Gators the edge.

C.J. Henderson was the player who returned a 16-yard interception for a touchdown. It’s the third pick returned for a touchdown for the Gators this year. Florida showed on the national stage that they still possess one of the most fearsome defenses in the country.

Moreover, Duke Dawson showed why he is an NFL-level talent with a big stop on the goal line, including his interception, to stave off Tennessee. The Vols had so many chances to take the lead in this game but Florida was the best when it mattered.

We’ll see what happens when the Gators get to face teams with explosive offenses like the Missouri Tigers and South Carolina. However, it’s likely that their defense will be able to carry the load for the rest of the season.
