Lee Corso made his selection on College GameDay for Week 3. Did he choose the favored Tigers on the road or Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals?

Lee Corso lost his first game of the season last week and dropped his record to 2-1. Brutus Buckeye let him down thanks to a monster game by an underdog Sooners team led by Heisman candidate Baker Mayfield. This week Corso gets to choose between another Heisman candidate and a Top 5 team. Will he make the same mistake?

It is not a perfect comparison because Ohio State was favored at home. This week No. 3 Clemson comes into No.14 Louisville as the 3-point favorite. It is a true test of all the old clichés of offensive teams against defensive teams. With the smallest of sample sizes, Clemson has been arguably the best defense in college football. Lamar Jackson is a big game against Clemson from becoming the heavy favorite to repeat as Heisman Trophy winner.

Deshaun Watson lit up the Louisville secondary for five touchdowns and 306 yards in last season’s 42-36 win. The Cardinals did intercept three passes. The problem for Louisville is All-American cornerback Jaire Alexander had two of those interceptions but is out for this year’s game with a nagging knee injury. That will help Kelly Bryant, who completed 19-of-29 passes for 181 yards against Auburn last week. The junior did have two rushing touchdowns.

Every episode of GameDay this season it seems like Corso has had some link to at least one of the schools showcased. This week is no different. Corso began his head coaching career at Louisville in 1969. He led the Cardinals to a 28-11-3 record and two Missouri Valley Conference Championships in four seasons.

In last year’s meeting, Corso selected the Tigers and was proven right.  Will he go with his heart and the crowd and take the Cardinals to pull off the upset? Or will defense win ACC Atlantic Championships (which this basically is now that Florida State lost Deondre Francois)?

Let’s go to the pick:

Corso is riding with the Cardinals. Between the crowd, his ties to the school, and the most dynamic offensive player in recent memory, it was just too much for him to pass up. Will Corso get back on track and run his record to 3-1?
