Up until now, Mond’s name hasn’t really been mentioned in the same sentence as strong or consistent. However, his performance against Arkansas — even though it started slow — indefinitely earned him a helmet sticker in my book.

The Kellen Mond of week one surely would not recognize the one who played against the Razorbacks. Mond was 14-of-27 for 216 yards and two passing touchdowns, oh and a rushing touchdown that the refs took away from him. He also led the team in rushing as he is finally making use of the legs he was recruited for. Mond finished with 116 rushing yards on the day.

The most important thing Mond did all day was simply respond to and grow from adversity. When a play didn’t work out the way he hoped or a drive simply stalled, he picked up the pieces and was better the next drive. The more he improves and grows, the better he will be as this season and his career wear on.

It’s passes like the one in the video below that prove that Mond is figuring it out and putting the pieces together. Three weeks ago, he was thrown into a game where the Aggies were up by 34 and couldn’t seem to find the end zone once. On Saturday, he found the end zone often- most importantly in overtime.

Way to go Kellen, you’re doing great.
