2. The SEC East is average at best

Georgia has wins over Notre Dame and Mississippi State and looks to be the real deal. There’s a reason they were rewarded with the No. 7 spot in the AP Poll this week. After the Bulldogs though, the SEC East seems to be mediocre at best.

Florida’s three conference wins have come by margins of six, one, and now 14. South Carolina barely escaped an upset in Week 4 at the hands of Louisiana Tech. Tennessee is Tennessee. The Vols, Vanderbilt and Missouri are all win-less in SEC play

Georgia has bona-fide College Football Playoff aspirations while the rest of these teams, yes even Florida, look to be aiming at bowl berths. The Gators might be able to grab a New Year’s Six bid if things break the right way, but there hasn’t been much of a reason to believe their offense can challenge the better teams in the SEC, let alone the nation.

Alabama continues to roll over the SEC, dominating the Gators in SEC Championships year after year. The Tide remain undefeated so far this season and look to stand alone with Georgia at the top of the conference. The days of seven straight National Championships won by the SEC are over and so is the dominance of the conference on the national landscape.
