6. team. 2408. . (3-0/C-USA). Previous: . UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA took a break in Week 5, remaining undefeated by default during their bye week. The Roadrunners hover just outside the top five in the Group of Five race, but the Conference USA favorites will have plenty more opportunities to climb further up the ladder in the coming months.

Frank Wilson’s team one of just five Group of Five teams without a loss on its record. UTSA missed out on a key non-conference battle against Houston in what was supposed to be its season opener. Instead, they began the year with a takedown of Baylor in Waco and haven’t let up since. Now 3-0, the Roadrunners continue to win despite being one of the most penalized teams in the country.

Their success is largely due to senior quarterback Dalton Sturm, who sits second in the nation behind Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield in season passing efficiency. Sturm is completing more than three-quarters of his passing attempts, and he is one of just eight FBS quarterbacks who have yet to throw an interception this year.

UTSA finally turns its attention to C-USA play in Week 6 when Southern Miss comes to the Alamodome. At this point, the Roadrunners look at least like the best team in C-USA West. They will have a chance to bolster that claim this week when they square off against the Golden Eagles. C-USA looks wide open in 2017, and the Roadrunners could ultimately be the biggest beneficiary.
