TCU football has one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12, but Kenny Hill can seemingly never get enough respect.

TCU is currently ranked No. 8 in the AP Top 25 and No. 10 in Coaches Poll, but they’re currently under the radar. It may be because Oklahoma is ranked No. 3 in the nation and is the current cream of the crop of the Big 12. The Horned Frogs are a current dark-horse in the landscape of college football.

But why isn’t TCU quarterback Kenny Hill getting any love by the masses?

Hill, a senior out of Southlake, Texas, has been playing solid football since last year for TCU. He helped lead his Horned Frogs to an upset of No. 6 Oklahoma State, 44-31, last Saturday. Most had Oklahoma State on a seasonal crash course with No. 3 Oklahoma, but Hill and crew had other plans.

The senior’s nickname was ‘Trill’ when he played at College Station (Texas A&M), when he got the reigns after Johnny Manziel, after setting the world on fire the first half the season but the second half didn’t go as well — he was replaced by Kyle Allen, he got into minor trouble and transferred to TCU. He took over as the main signal-caller in 2016 and helped lead them to a 6-7 overall record and 4-5 in the Big 12.

Expectations weren’t through the roof for this team, but not even halfway through the season and they are two wins away from matching their 2016 total and a key reason for that is the play of Hill.

TCU’s No. 1 quarterback is currently taking care of the ball at a great clip — he only has three interceptions. He’s also completing 72.7 percent of his passes so far to go along with nine touchdowns. So far he hasn’t had to run as much with the improved rushing attack led by sophomore running back Darius Anderson, who currently has 422 yards and six touchdowns.

Hill has been the engine for TCU this year. The Horned Frogs are currently 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12 and if he continues to play well, TCU may shake up the Big 12 and the College Football Playoff.

I think Hill was written off after he transferred from Texas A&M. He has followed a tough act in Manziel and seemed to fizzle out, but tough people bounce back when times get hard and it seems like he’s done just that with his time at TCU. Props to Hill for showing resolve and he is maybe turning into a Heisman dark-horse if the quality wins keep piling up.
